William Thomas “Tommy” Bodnar, 73, of Martinez passed away peacefully at home on November 26, 2025 after a courageous three-year battle with metastatic melanoma.
Tommy was born in Toledo, OH to the late William and Jean Henderson Bodnar and was married to the late Linda Barton Bodnar for 35 years. He attended Butler High School (class of 1970).
He was earnestly dedicated to his work and was an outside sales associate selling building materials at various businesses in the Augusta area for more than 5 decades. He was most recently employed at The Home Depot and worked the Pro Desk for nearly 14 years. Tommy’s commitment to his work inspired his continued fight as he greatly appreciated the community of coworkers and customers around him.
Tommy never met a stranger and was known for his joking spirit, always trying to make others smile and laugh. Without fail, he was ready and willing to go above and beyond to help in any way possible. He enjoyed exploring new places, would be reading multiple books at once and kept himself busy with puzzles and crosswords. An avid cook and canning enthusiast, Tommy loved to make food and share it with others. Tommy leaves behind a legacy of humor and hard work and the belief that you can always create fun and exciting experiences for yourself. As much as he loved all these things, he most loved his grandchildren and they were the center of his heart and what he was most proud of.
Tommy was preceded in death by his sister Nancy Jo Lamberth of Blythe, GA and his brother Randy Brent Bodnar of Easley, SC.
Tommy is survived by his daughter Ashley Storey, her husband Joey and their two children – Noah and Landon, of Evans; and his daughter Amber Hill, her husband Zachary and their three children – Gramercy, Iris and Whittier, of Denver. Tommy is also survived by his siblings Carol Bodnar and Alan Bodnar of California, his beloved dog, Olivia, and several nieces and nephews.
Tommy’s family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the providers who cared for him throughout the past three years, especially Dr. Zachary Buchwald, Dr. Jacob Choi and Skye Criswell at Emory Winship Cancer Institute and Dr. Gerald Wallace at Wellstar Oncology. Additionally, Bristol Hospice for their outstanding and compassionate care in his last weeks.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 11 from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. at Fairhaven Funeral Home in Augusta. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Marc Smith officiating.
All expressions of sympathy are welcome. In lieu of flowers, a donation to help cover funeral costs would be greatly appreciated, https://everloved.com/life-of/tommy-bodnar/. Additionally, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Atlanta: https://raiseyourway.donordrive.com/pages/1221.
