Mrs. Tuloto Mapo Niko Chorman-Perry was born on October 7th, 1953 in Fagaalu, American Samoa to Malama and Mamapo Niko. She graduated from Samoana High School and completed two years of college before entering the Army where she would serve proudly for the next twenty years. Mrs. Chorman-Perry joined the London Missionary Society (LMS) Church at a very young age in American Somoa and worshipped there until she left the island in 1974 to join the military. She made a home with the love of her life, husband Curtis Tyrone Perry, Sr., when they wed in 1989, but she didn’t find another church home until arriving in Augusta, Georgia in 1995. Shortly thereafter, she became a loyal, faithful member and served as treasurer for many years of the Augusta Samoan Christian Fellowship Church (ASCFC), with Reverend Filipo Sualevai presiding. Mrs. Chorman-Perry’s arrival to Augusta also symbolized the end of her military career, and she retired honorably after twenty years of service. During that time, she continued to serve tirelessly as a wife and mother of five, supporting her husband throughout his military and civilian career. The next chapter in her work life found her employed for sixteen years at the Georgia Department of Public Health, specifically East Central Health District #6. Even after her health began to fail, she would find every reason to be with her colleagues on North Leg Road doing what she did best: working and serving others. Preceding her in death were her parents, Malama and Mamapo Niko, and her brothers Gaisoa Mapo Mapo Jr. and Sosaiete Niko. As Mrs. Chorman-Perry enjoys her life in Heaven, she leaves behind a loving and devoted husband, Curtis Tyrone Perry, Sr.; four sons, Daniel Allen Chorman (Atlanta), Christopher Niko Chorman (Jacksonville), Nathaniel Alapati Perry (Atlanta), and Curtis Tyrone Perry, Jr. (Augusta); one daughter, Chanika Renee Perry (New York City); four brothers, Lotonu’umoni Niko (Honolulu), Rev. Elder Peleiupu Mapo Niko (American Samoa), Bobby Niko (American Samoa), and Apelu Apelu (Honolulu) four sisters, Punipuao Weaver (Honolulu), Fa’aleleiaiga Kahooilihala (Honolulu), Fa’aaluvaleloumalosi Mapo (American Samoa), and Aigasalemalama Petaia (American Samoa); two grandchildren, Jordan Pierce Chorman (Jacksonville) and Kalani Grace Chorman (Jacksonville), and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends to cherish her memory.
