Ronald Anderson Johnikin

Mr. Ronald Anderson Johnikin of Thomson Georgia , 84 years of age, entered into rest June 14, 2026. Mr. Johnikin was born in Hepzibah Georgia, July 8, 1941 to Clarence and Francis Johnikin. He is preceded by his parents and brother, William Johnikin .

Ronald joined the United States Navy, at age 17, where he served eight years of service to our country , later becoming a salesman until he retired in the early 2000’s. He is better known as a life time local musician, singer, and band leader throughout the CSRA and South Carolina. Ronald, a.k.a. “OLE DOG” as friends would later call him, due to his performance of Old Dogs and Children and Watermelon Wine by Tom T. Hall . He enjoyed old time, country music, and bluegrass and entertaining friends and family at his country home , known as RJ’s Last Stop. His favorite pastime was riding his golf cart from home to Happy Valley and down to Briar Creek. While well known for his love of music, we all know him for sharing his wisdom in his own way. He was always honest and direct, because he cared more about you than your feelings…..“Case closed”. Loved by many hated by few, he’d let you know he “didn’t want to know where you bought your watch at” though he expected every detail. Although gone “OLE DOG” will always be a husband, father, and friend, to be remembered and cherished forever.Mr.Johnikin is survived by his wife, Grace Johnikin of 54 years, his son Michael Johnikin , daughter Tracie and (Charles) , sons Randall Johnikin and Henry Johnikin and his wife Jennifer Johnikin and seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mr. Johnikin’s service will be held at The Old Frontier in Thomson Georgia at a later time to be announced. Flowers may be brought to the memorial service at such time, and we’d greatly appreciate all donations be made in honor of Ronald Johnikin to The Old Frontier in his loving memory.
