Phillip Gregory Arnold, Sr.

Phillip Gregory Arnold, Sr (“Phil”), 65, of Evans, GA, passed away at home on June 2, 2026.

Phil was born in Houston, TX to Glenn Truett Arnold and Joyce Jeanette Jewell Arnold on June 6, 1960. He graduated from Paine College.

Phil proudly served in the United States Army for more than 20 years, retiring honorably as a Sergeant First Class (SFC). His military career included service and deployments throughout Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and the United States, including during Operations Desert Storm and the Global War on Terrorism.

During his distinguished career, he earned numerous honors, including the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal with six Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and the Kuwait Liberation Medal. He was also a proud member of the prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy Club and recipient of the Bronze Order of Mercury for excellence within the Signal Corps.

Following his military retirement, Phil continued serving through Civil Service at the Signal Regimental Noncommissioned Officer Academy, where he ultimately retired as Chief of Training. He was respected as a leader, mentor, and dedicated professional who helped train and develop generations of soldiers.

Phil is preceded in death by his father, Glenn Arnold.

Phil is survived by his children, Heather (Jason) Hosgood; Greg (Jennifer) Arnold; Ashley (Jerad) Davis and Jessie Arnold; sister, Marilyn (Chuck) Pace; brother, Steve Arnold; mother, Joyce Arnold and grandchildren, Melanie & Olivia Hosgood, Addison & Blakely Arnold.

Memorials may be given to FairHaven Funeral Home in Augusta.

The family of Phil Arnold wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the VA medical facilities for exceptional care.

Funeral services including military honors will be held at 3:30pm Friday, June 19, 2026, at FairHaven Funeral Home with an Army chaplain officiating. Visitation will be 4:00-6:00pm Friday, June 19, 2026, following the service. Burial will follow at a US National Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are by FairHaven Funeral Home, Augusta, GA.
