Mary Elizabeth Hutson (Hereford), age 81, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, February 2 in Augusta, Georgia.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday, February 5 at 1:00 pm at Cornerstone Apostolic Church in North Augusta, SC. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service.
Mary was born on June 5, 1944, in Washington, DC. She was raised in Washington DC and lived in various places including Arlington, VA, Charleston, WV, Columbus, OH, but her heart was in her summer farm home in Warm Springs, VA. She was the late daughter of Martha Jane Boyne Hicklin Hereford Kosko and Lauren Hunter Hereford.
Mary lived a life marked by devotion—to her family, her faith, and her work. She was a devoted wife of over 65 years to Wilford Roger Hutson and a loving mother to Denise Hutson Parker and Dennis Hutson. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren Rachel Saint (Richard), Hannah Williams (Craig), and Isaac Stewart, Christina Cody (Keon), Amber Saxon (Joe), and Victoria Hutson; and a host of great-grandchildren. For the last five years of her life, she devoted herself fully to raising her great-granddaughter, Esther, instilling love and virtue giving her a reason to live.
She also leaves behind her brother James Hereford (Dorothy) Sterling, Virginia a Special Sister in Law, Arlene Sears (Church Hill, TN), a son-in-law Larry Stewart (Kim) Salem, AL, a Special Friend, Anna Laura Kitchens along with many nieces, nephews, who will cherish her memory.
For over 30 years, Mary was a hardworking and dedicated employee of Kroger. Her commitment to excellence and reliability left a lasting impression on colleagues, whom she built long friendships with.
A woman of deep faith, Mary was a faithful Christian who served the Lord throughout her life. She was a long-time member of Cornerstone Apostolic Church, where she found spiritual strength and community. She also loved children and taught Sunday school for over 20 years.
Mary’s life was one of quiet strength, enduring love, one of the strongest women we ever knew, and an unwavering faith. Her presence brought warmth to those around her, and her memory will continue to inspire all who knew her
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her beloved daughters: Baby girl Hutson (Columbus, OH) and DeAnna Stewart; grandson Jacob Stewart; sister Doris Pearson and niece Tammy Hutto.
A Special Thank You goes out to Enhabit Hospice for their Loving Care and concern for Mary and the Family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Autism Awareness in memory of her Grandson, Jacob Stewart.
