In Loving Memory of Mary Catherine Cox
April 23, 1956 – October 18, 2026
With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Mary Catherine Cox, who departed this life on October 18, 2026, at the age of 70. Born on April 23, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois, Mary was a loving, strong, and devoted woman whose life revolved around the people she loved most—her family.
Mary was a woman with a strong heart and a love that knew no bounds. She was deeply dedicated to her children, grandchildren, and family, always holding them close and making them a priority in her life. She expressed her love in countless ways, especially through cooking, sharing meals, and bringing family together. Her love, strength, and devotion were gifts to those around her, and the memories she created will forever be treasured.
To her family, Mary was more than a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a source of strength, comfort, and unconditional love. Her presence brought something special to family gatherings, and the time she spent with those she loved created memories that will be held close forever. Though her passing leaves an emptiness that words cannot describe, the love she gave will continue to live on through the generations she leaves behind.
Mary leaves behind her beloved spouse, Donald Cox; her children, Christopher Vavallo and Amanda Johnson; and her cherished grandchildren, Emily Johnson and Jacelyn Fish, who were precious parts of her life.
She is also lovingly remembered by her aunt, Veronica Gentile; her cousins, Loreta Cichon, Catherine Rago (Rocco), Vito Rago (Betty), and
Debbie Bush; and her many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. She leaves behind a family filled with love for her and
memories that will be cherished for years to come.
Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Pasqua Palumbo; her father, Joe Vavallo; her grandparents, Leonardo and Catarina Gentile; and her
uncle, Nicola Rago, and aunt, Anna Rago.
Although our hearts are broken by her absence, we find comfort in knowing that the love Mary shared will never truly leave us. Her strength will continue to inspire her family, her kindness will be remembered, and her love will remain woven into the lives of her children, grandchildren, and everyone fortunate enough to have known her.
We find comfort in the hope that Mary is now at peace, reunited with loved ones who went before her and resting in the arms of eternal love. Though we can no longer see her or hold her close, we will carry her in our hearts, speak her name with love, and treasure the memories that will forever connect us to her.
A life so deeply loved can never be forgotten. The lessons she taught, the love she gave, and the memories she created will continue to live on through her family for generations to come.
Until we meet again, Mom, you will always be loved, always be missed, and forever be a part of us. Your love is your legacy, and that legacy will live on in the hearts of all who love you.
