He graduated from Nürnberg American High School in West Germany, where he began a journey that would see him serve his country with honor and distinction. Lewis enlisted in the United States Army in 1971, dedicating 21 years to military service before retiring in 1992 as a Staff Sergeant. His commitment and exemplary service earned him numerous accolades, including the National Defense Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, the Army Achievement Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, and a commendation for his civil service.

On June 8, 1979, Lewis married the love of his life, Florine Rhett, in a beautiful ceremony in Beaufort, South Carolina. Their partnership, built on mutual respect and enduring love, spanned 48 years. Together, they created a nurturing home filled with laughter and warmth.

Lewis was a proud father to his son Markes Moore, and a devoted grandfather to five adoring grandchildren: Dustin, Kaylee, Kyrin, Kallie, and Kiasia. His family was his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Lewis was predeceased by his son, Lewis Alfreddie Moore, a loss he bore with great strength and grace.

A man of deep faith, Lewis was an active member of New Life Church in Grovetown, Georgia. His commitment to service extended beyond his military career; he was a dedicated AARP volunteer, always eager to lend a helping hand to those in need.
