Larry Raymond Butler

Larry Raymond Butler, 80, of Martinez, Georgia, passed away on September 7, 2026.

Larry was born in Washington, Wilkes County, Georgia to Ellis Raymond Butler and Annie Katherine Blackmon Butler on July 19, 1946. He graduated from the Academy of Richmond County and Augusta State University (Augusta College) in Augusta Georgia. He married Betty Jo Easler on August 17, 1968 in Augusta Georgia.

Larry worked as a Lineman for Southern Bell. He worked as an E&I Tech for Savannah River Plant. He worked and retired from PQ Corporation as a Lab Tech.

Larry enjoyed playing golf. If you could not find him at home or work, you would find him in his happy place on a golf course. Especially the Wednesday BBQ at North Augusta County Club. His favorite golf days were with his son and youngest grandson. He enjoyed many years watching his oldest grandson play Little League Baseball and watching his youngest grandson play on his School Golf Team.

As a hobby Larry spent many years working with his Sister Janice Turner on Genealogy for his family, other families, Court Houses, and Libraries across Georgia. They published many Genealogy books that are in courthouses and Libraries across Georgia.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Dr. Janice Ilene Turner, Joyce Amelia Butler Maxwell, and niece Wanda Maxwell Breaux.

Larry is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Easler Butler, a son and daughter-in-law, Larry Scott Butler and Rebecca Jo Clauss Butler, Martinez GA, two Grandson’s, Chandler Ellis Butler, Augusta, GA And Garrett Michael Butler (Lyn) Martinez, GA, two nephews, Thomas Albert Turner III (Sheri), Frankewing, TN and Brandon Butler Maxwell (Bruce), Meraux, LS.

The family of Larry R. Butler wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Madison Heights and Georgia Hospice Staff during his last month of life.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Friday September, 18th at Fairhaven Funeral Home, 3507 Wrightsboro Rd Augusta, GA 30909 with Reverend Jimmy Harris officiating.
