Kathleen Garrard

It is with heavy hearts that the Powers and Garrard families would like to announce the passing of our beloved Kathleen Powers Garrard of Augusta, GA on May 30, 2022. Kathy was born to Fritz and Marilyn Gieseking on October 10, 1953. She was born in Charleston, SC with her childhood family home being in Beech Island, SC. Much of her adult life was spent in various places, many of those years in Harlem, GA.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Marilyn and Fritz, her sister Julie Jensen, and her brother Gerry Gieseking. She is survived by her children Jonas Powers, Sarah Garrard, and Lee Garrard. Kathy is also survived by multiple loving grandchildren.

Kathy was veteran of the US Armed Forces, having served in both the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Army.  After completing her BSN, she went on to be a very successful nurse and did not hesitate to display her pride in that regard.

Kathy was an avid motorcycle enthusiast.  Her love for Harley-Davidsons was unparalleled. She developed in to a strong, well respected, and truly loved member of the motorcycle community that had no boundaries. She touched many lives and never hesitated to help a fellow biker in need. She eventually earned the title of Sportster Kathy, and many continue to know her as such.

There will be a Celebration of Life held on Saturday, July 2 ^nd at 4:00 pm to honor her legacy. The Celebration will be at VFW post 6445 located at 6423 Wrightsboro Rd, Harlem GA 30814.
