KATHERINE BARRY SNELL

Katherine Barry Snell, 85, artist and light of our lives, passed away peacefully in the arms of her loving husband Sonny on January 21st, 2026.

Katie “mom” was the heartbeat of our lives. She would sing, laugh and be silly all while being quietly strong and dependable throughout her life. Soft-hearted, honest, creative, benevolent, and never short on “I love you.” Always a kind soul; rescuing birds, squirrels, and kitties. We, as her children, could not have been more blessed to have her as our mother and call her mom.

Katie loved Sonny so much and he loved his Katie. Their romance started in their teens, but Katie moved away with her family. Decades later she wrote to him, and they rekindled their love affair. Mom moved to Aiken, South Carolina from Cedar Rapids, Iowa and became Sonny’s wife for the next thirty-five years.

Katie was an accomplished artist and jeweler. She designed, sculpted, and painted original porcelain jewelry for forty-plus years. She was in the masterclass. Katie sold her jewelry from coast-to-coast at art shows and in studios; each piece unique and truly one-of-a-kind; just like her.

Katherine Barry Snell is survived by her beloved husband Guy “Sonny” Snell, her four children: Patricia Morrissette, Wendi Moffitt, Scott Krentz and Victor Maas, her son-in-law Michael Morrissette and her only grandchild Katherine Michelle Dorame along with her husband Rudy Dorame and one surviving sister, Carol Kulwicki as well as extended family members and best friends, Bobby and Jan Altman.

Katie was the brightest light in all our lives and will forever be wife, mom, Nana, and friend. We love you. We miss you every day. Rest well mom, we will see you one day.
