Joseph D. Holley

Mr. Joseph D. Holley, Sr., 78, of Augusta, GA, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2015 at his residence. A lifelong resident of the Central Savannah River Area, he was the son of the late Prue Alfred Holley and Pauline Moon Holley. He was retired from Frito Lay as a route salesman. Joseph enjoyed fishing, playing semi pro baseball for the Augusta Tigers, watching westerns and the Braves. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Lee Chance Holley, granddaughter, Lisa Michelle Davis, and four brothers. He is survived by his children, Dianne Davis, Augusta, GA, Joseph D. “Joey” (Lajuanna) Holley, Jr., Warrenville, SC, Elaine (George)Lewis, Augusta, GA, Michael Holley, Augusta, GA, sisters, Melvis Garrett, Warrenville, SC, Mary Hughes, Bath, SC, eleven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and beloved Ginger. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 2pm at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, GA. Interment will follow in Mt Olive Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be the grandsons. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 from 1 until the hour of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Hospital of Georgia, 1447 Harper Street, Augusta, GA 30912.
