Biography Jon Charles Japowicz, of Indianapolis, Ind., entered into rest on Monday, Oct. 14, at his home in Augusta, Ga. A memorial service will be held at Abilene Baptist Church on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at10 a.m, with a luncheon to follow.Japowicz was cremated shortly after death. Japowicz was born April 6, 1967, to Nancy and Eugene Japowicz Sr. He went to Whiteland High School in Whiteland, Ind., and shortly after graduation of high school joined the U.S. Navy, where he served in a submarine for several years. When he lived in Indianapolis, he was on a pit crew with his friends and they built race cars. He was called "Little Jon," a name given for its irony due to his size and stature. After moving to Augusta, Japowicz became a dedicated member of the congregation of Abilene Baptist Church, where he attended Sunday school and services with his family. He is survived by his mother, Nancy Lowe, of Augusta; his siblings, Christy White, Kevin Lowe and Jamie Lowe, all of Augusta; and his nieces, Korynn White and Kaylynn White, of Augusta. Japowicz was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Japowicz Sr.; his older brother, Eugene Japowicz Jr.; and his faithful German shepherd, Buddy. The family is in charge of the arrangements and encourages church members and friends to attend the memorial service. There will be no viewing, but the family welcomes visitors as this time.
