John Thomas Edwards

Augusta, GA. Dr. John Thomas Edwards entered into rest on February 10th, 2015.John was born in 1930 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.He attended Mississippi State University where he received his BS and was initiated into the Mississippi Gamma Chapter of the Alpha Epsilon Delta National Premedical Honor Society. John attained the rank of Second Lieutenant while serving in the United States Air Force.He received his DDS from the University of Louisville and moved to Augusta in 1963 to set up his dental practice.John was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, and the Augusta Country Club.He is survived by his wife, Bessie Taylor Edwards, three daughters, Rhonda Lee Edwards of Tampa, Florida, Evelyn Esther Edwards of Augusta and Susan Edwards Wheeler of Seattle, Washington.He is also survived by his son-in-law Arville Vance Wheeler, Jr. of Seattle, Washington, and three grandchildren, Arville Vance Wheeler, III of San Diego, California, Rachel Elle Wheeler and Victoria Wheeler both of Seattle, Washington.John was not only the most faithful and caring husband, loving and honorable father, but he was the most passionate and proud grandfather one would ever meet. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 14, 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at THE POTEET FUNERAL HOME, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, 30906.Burial to take place in Mississippi.
