James Robert Martin

Mr. James Robert Martin Retired Macuch Steele Augusta, Ga. went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 15, 2013 at University Hospital. Mr. James Robert Martin husband of Mrs. Stella Luther Martin of 68 years. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 am at Pineview Baptist Church with Dr. Michael L. Davenport and The Rev. J.D. Turner officiating. Interment at Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be, Dr. Robert Chandler, David Chandler, Abe Fleming, Scott Martin, Scott Carter and Robert Hemphill. Honorary Pallbearers, will be Amy Hemphill and Neal Martin. Mr. Martin was a native of Murphy N.C. and has lived most of his life in Augusta. He was a member of Pineview Baptist Church and previouslyan ordained Deacon at Hillcrest Baptist Church and then served as a Deacon at Pine Hill Baptist Church. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Normandy Invasion; he received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was retired from Macuch Steele Company as a shop foreman. Additional survivors include, son Dale Martin (Frances) Augusta, Ga. Two daughters, Shirley Chandler (Clayton) Mansfield, TX., Barbara Fleming (Thomas) Newnan, Ga. Eight grandchildren and Six great grandchildren. Preceding in death a daughter, Iris Youngentob. The family will receive friends at the church 1 hour prior to service.
