Augusta, GA. Hazel Neal-Miller, age 94, entered into rest Sunday, September 13, 2015.She was born in Calvin, KY., daughter of William Crittendon Hoskins and Emma Peck Hoskins.She attended schools in Bell County, Middletown, OH., and Berea College.She was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Air Force. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lewis E. Neal; her second husband, John B. Miller and her daughter, Mary Fran Neal Bullock.She is survived by two grandsons, Hamilton Neal Hilliard of Hephzibah, GA., and Manly Bullock of McCormick, SC; 2 great grandsons, Kory Lewis and Justin Hilliard of Hephzibah, GA., a devoted son-in-law, Chris Bullock of Plum Branch, SC; two honorary daughters, Barbara Turner of Harlem, GA., and Dot Taylor of Hephzibah, GA. Ms. Neal-Miller was a member of Whispering Pines Baptist Church.She was a past matron of the Elizabeth Chapter #43 Order of the Eastern Star and a current member of Martinez Chapter #464.For many decades, she was an avid volunteer for the American Veterans Auxiliary Post #5.“Miss Hazel” was well known for her love of quilting and horses.As a lifelong quilter, she taught the craft to others and was a certified quilt judge.She trained horses and shared her passion by teaching riding lessons.She was a member of many saddle clubs in the southeast and her vitality inspired all who knew her, as she continued to ride through her 90th birthday. The honor of Kentucky Colonel was bestowed upon her in 1985 by then Gov. Martha Collins for her work with flood victims of Harlan and Bell Counties. Family will receive friends Thursday 4 pm to 5 pm at THE POTEET FUNERAL HOME, 3465 Peach Orchard Rd., HWY 25, Augusta, 30906, with Memorial Services to follow at 5 pm with Rev.
