George Wade Carmichael,Sr.

Life Legacy GROVETOWN, Ga - George Wade Carmichael, Sr. of Grovetown, GA went home to be with the Lord on September 26, 2013 at Trinity Hospital with his son, Ron, by his side. He is survived by his loving wife, Jeannette "Puddin" Carmichael, son George Wade, Jr. (Kris), daughter Claudia, son Ron (Barbara), son Mark (Jan), "adopted" daughter Melonie Anderson, stepson Rick Clark (Jan), and brother Charles. He is also survived by grandchildren Ron Carmichael, Jr. (Lacie), Steven Wilkes (Anna), Morgan Carmichael (Erin), and Kyle Carmichael. His step grandchildren include David Clark (Shelly), Rebekah Dalton (Craig), Laura Vorac (Chris), Kevin Clark (Jamie), Martin Clark (Jessica), and Ashley Clark. He was known as "Big Grandad" by his great grandson, Jordan Carmichael. His step great grandchildren include Audrie and Corban Dalton, Winnie, Miles, Grady, Abbigail, and Turner Clark. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Carmichael, and his stepson Walt Clark. George was born December 15, 1924 in Bedford, Indiana. He was a 23 year veteran of the United States Armed Forces, faithfully serving in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. George was a proud patriot who loved his country and enjoyed telling stories of his experiences in the military. After retiring from the Army, he went to work for the South Carolina Highway Department An avid golfer, he was always happy to be on the golf course with his friends. He was also a skilled builder and craftsmen who enjoyed all of his many "projects" around the house and in the yard. George's sense of humor was unmatched, always cracking jokes and playfully teasing his loved ones. He was often called "Mr. Red Socks," as he only wore red socks, no matter his attire. His zeal for life was apparent and contagious to anyone who met him, making him simply unforgettable to all. A celebration service will be held at 12pm on Sunday, September 29th at West Acres Baptist a Church in Evans, GA with Pastor Larry Harmon officiating
