Frederick (Fred) Earl Dunham 58, was born on august 13th, 1955 and was released from his earthly bonds on dec. 11th 2013. He slipped away quietly after a lifelong battle with lung disease while awaiting a lung transplant at his brother Pat and families home in Ga. Fred's great sense of humor, positive attitude, down to earth, loving and giving nature won him many friends from all walks of life. Fred graduated from E.H.S. in 1972, he came back to Ellsworth in 1981 to watch over his mom after his dad's passing. He worked at "Bub's Pub" for a number of years until health issues caused him to stop working. Fred put himself through college while out of work and graduated U.M.O. (making the dean's list several times) with a Bachelors degree in sciences in 1999 and later earned a nursing degree. He worked at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital for five years, then went on the road to work as a traveling nurse. Fred loved the outdoors, fishing in his kayak, camping, target shooting and stargazing, he enjoyed all aspects of being in nature. He also had an eye for photography and it was a joy to see the world through his eyes. Fred will be greatly missed by his brother Tim and family, wife Kathy, children Jessy and Addy who live in N.Y. Brother Tom, S.C. and brother Pat in Ga. and wife Peggy and children Tim and kristin. Fred also enjoyed a special Father-Daughter relationship with Joy Fender and was "Papa Freddy" to her Caleb and Haily Marie. there will be a life celebration and a scattering of ashes in the coming summer.
