Franklin Pierce (Rusty) Mctyre, Jr.

Franklin Pierce McTyre Jr (Rusty) known to family and friends as “Rusty”, passed away on August 3, 2018 at the age of 65 after a battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his mother, Viola A. Strickland and his sister, Karen M. Howard. Rusty started his warehouse career at Homestead Draperies. He went to work for Searle Pharmaceuticals in 1982 and moved to NutraSweet in the 90’s. Rusty loved bowling, fishing and football especially the Georgia Bulldogs. Go Dawgs!! He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sabrina; daughter, Tamara (Cleo) Mixon; son, Franklin Pierce McTyre III known as Trey (Audrey) and his sister Sheila M. Homschek (Gene). Rusty will be remembered by his four grandchildren, Crystal McTyre, Andrew McTyre, Jasmine Mixon, and Jonathan Mixon; his niece, Traci Scott, and his nephews; Bobby McCorkell, Skip Homschek and Joshua Sutton. He will also be remembered by extended family and dear friends. A memorial service for Rusty will be held at Whole Life Ministries, 2621 Washington Road, Augusta, GA on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 11 am, with Dr. Sandra Kennedy officiating. Memorial donations in memory of Rusty can be made to SKM Ministries, 2621 Washington Road, Augusta, GA, to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
