Eric Kimball Black, 74, entered into rest on January 16, peacefully at his home, following an unexpected but brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
Eric was born in Huntsville, Alabama, to the late Warren Black and Louise Williams. He was a graduate of Castle Heights Military School in Nashville, Tennessee, and later earned his degree from the Vanderbilt School of Radiology. Eric dedicated more than 40 years of service to the Savannah River Site, where he built a long and respected career before retiring in 2021. He was known for his strong work ethic, quiet dedication, and deep love for his family.
He is survived by Christie Black; his children, Ian K. Black, David S. Hayes (Amy Hayes), Terra Rose (Richard Rose); and his cherished grandchildren, Lyndon, Zoe, and Brighton Rose, Jace and Bryant Hayes. He is also survived by his stepfather, John Williams, his sister, Tracy Seaver (David) of Huntsville, Alabama; niece, Emily Seaver (Chris), and great-nephews, Alden, Jamie, and Trey.
Eric is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Dawn Black Callahan.
In accordance with Eric’s wishes, there will be no formal services. His ashes will be spread at "Mermaid Cove", in his favorite spot.
