Mr. Elliott Maurice Dent, affectionately known as “Rabbit,” was born on October 11, 1953, to the late Elliott and Lula Mae Dent. He peacefully entered eternal rest on June 6, 2026.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Isiah Burns and Gregory Johnson.
Mr. Dent attended Lucy Craft Laney High School and proudly graduated with the Class of 1971. He was a man who embraced life wholeheartedly and treasured every opportunity to spend time with family and friends. One of his greatest joys was traveling to attend Atlanta Braves baseball games, a passion he enjoyed throughout the years.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Elliott leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Carrie Patricia Dent; his sons, Trevor (Fayonda) Dent and John (Jasmin) Thomas; his daughters, Sharice (Vernon) Williams, Shantei Williams, Shakeva Dukes, Shannon Thomas, and Chateria Dent; his sisters, Melvis Harris, Sarah Terry, Alice Justice, Deborah Brady, Cheryl Butler, Samilla Miner, and Evelyn (Frank) Howard; his brother, Gordon Brady; his sisters-in-law, Mary Burns, Gail Acree, and Fay Dukes; his brothers-in-law, George (Lynda) Dukes Jr. and Michael (Gabriella) Dukes; and a host of beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Though he will be deeply missed, the love he shared, the lives he touched, and the memories he created will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Mr. Elliott Maurice Dent will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Greater Mt. Canaan Baptist Church. Family and friends are invited to attend. A repast will follow immediately after the service.
