Edward Gray Dunn, Jr., 73, fell asleep in death Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Piedmont Hospital, Augusta, GA, surrounded by family and close friends.
Ed was born on July 20, 1952, in Greenville, NC to Edward and Ruby Dunn. Raised in Greenville with his two younger sisters, Ed studied Business Administration at East Carolina University which led him to a successful career in retail management, first with McCrory’s, then Family Dollar, where he retired in 2014.
In 1973 Ed married Emily Grace Yuknevice. During their almost 52 years of marriage they welcomed four children; Tracy Kristina, Jeremy Keith, Kellie Laura, and Ashlee Paige, whom he loved dearly.
He was an avid fan of traveling with his wife Emily, and he also had a love for basketball, collecting and yard work. However, his main focus was his faith and beliefs. He was raised and baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and his dedication led to a life of teaching and shepherding, privileges he cherished.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ruby Dunn, in-laws, Vince and Betty Yuknevice, and brother-in-law, Terry Rhue. He is survived by his wife, Emily Yuknevice Dunn, children; Tracy Story (Chuck), Jeremy Dunn (Tonya), Kellie Brown (Micah) and Ashlee Blanton (Marlin); sisters, Patricia Carter (Don) and Judy Rhue; grandchildren, Cameron and Summer Story, Caitlyn, Chase, Landen and Gavin Dunn, Dylan and Parker Story, Evan Story, Micah Brown III, and great-grandson Jackson Eldridge; and several nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at Julian Smith Casino at 2200 Broad St., Augusta, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses at www.donate.jw.org
