Edith M. Butler Hart passed lovingly into the arms of our Lord on March 2, 2013, at the age of 88. She was born Edith Mae Stewart on October 15, 1924 in Dunavant, Kansas and grew up in Somerset, Kentucky. Edith spent the majority of her adult life in the areas of Athens County, Ohio and Orlando, Florida. The past 20 years of her life was spent in Augusta, Georgia, residing at St. John Towers where she served as past President of the St. John Towers Residents Association in addition to volunteering both at St. John Towers and University Hospital. Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil Albert Stewart who died when she was very young and Flossie Young and stepfather Charles Young as well as her brothers, Murrell and Marvin Stewart, husbands William “Jack” Butler, and Hiram L. Hart. She is survived by her son, Greg Butler (Laurie), Brookville, PA, Daughters, Melody Butler of Orlando, FL, Gwen Butler Mann (Rick) of Evans, GA as well as 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and a sister, Mildred Dravenstatt of Bradenton, FL. The family would like to thank St. John Towers, both residents and staff, for the care and friendship throughout the years. Additionally, the family would like to thank University Hospital and Comfort Keepers for their clinical and emotional support. The family is very grateful to the staff of Westwood Nursing Home in Evans, GA for their compassion and dedication to Edith’s care giving during the final month of her life.
