Augusta, Ga. Doris Gloria Dove was very fine Physical Therapist who sought to serve the underprivileged in many corners of the world. She worked in Australia and England. She worked as well in Thailand & India including the leper colonies in those regions. She the traveled to Danang Vietnam, working in a rehab center that was part of the Vietnamese Christian Mission. She extended her services to the Army 95th. Evac Hospital in the war zone in Vietnam as a translator and to help treat the wounded Vietnamese adults and children. From Vietnam she then went on to serve as a physical therapist in South America: Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, and Argentina because she knew the needs of the underprivileged in these countries. The rehabilitation personnel of these contries were so appreciative of her work that they came to visit her in Augusta throughout the years. When she came to Augusta she became the chief physical therapist at the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home. After retirement from this position she worked with St. Joseph Hospital Home Health Care Services serving in the rural counties. Doris was a member of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Augusta for 33 years. During these years she served on the vestry. Was a delegate to Diocesan Convention and was very faithful leading Bible School and teaching Sunday school. Both her parents and her twin brother preceded her in death. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday at 4:30 pm at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church on Lumpkin Road and interment will follow at the church.
