Cynthia Hensel

Cynthia Hensel , 62, of Martinez, Georgia, passed away on August 16, 2026. Born on December 8, 1963 in San Antonio, Texas, Cindy was the daughter of Johnny Rodriguez and Sarah Flores Rodriguez.

In 1990 Cindy and her beloved husband Steve were married and then moved from Texas to Augusta, Georgia to begin the next chapter of life. Augusta would be her home for the next 36 years where she particularly loved the beautiful Spring flowers and Fall charm with all the colors.

Cindy was a devoted wife and mother who prioritized faith and family. Over the years she served in Children’s ministry, Vacation Bible School/Summer Camps, small group bible studies, and outreach to those facing life’s struggles.

She loved to cook and bake and thoroughly enjoyed creating themed birthday celebrations for her children with hand crafted specialty birthday cakes. Thanksgiving was incomplete without her mouthwatering oyster-raisin dressing and divine pumpkin cheesecake. Cindy’s artistic and creative talents extended to the sewing room where she created wonderful smocked clothes.

Cindy delighted in gardening and just being outside in nature. Family vacations at the beach or mountains, visiting zoos, aquariums, and taking in the wonder of waterfalls were yearly highlights.

Cindy was also an avid reader and loved a good story particularly involving women of faith and how they impacted those around them. She also fancied Star Wars science fiction stories, characters of Star Trek and antics of Doctor Who.

Cindy faithfully and joyfully served her Lord Jesus Christ and her family.

Cindy is survived by her husband of 36 years Steve Hensel, children Michael Hensel, Alyssa Hensel and Matthew Hensel.
