It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Connie Jean (Reese) Saalfrank, who left to be with her husband of over 50 years on November 28, 2025, in Martinez, Georgia. Connie was born on October 8, 1950, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to the loving parents John Trenton and Naomi Jean Reese.
Connie was a proud graduate of Elmhurst High School, class of 1969. She met the love of her life when they were both 15 years old. The two were united in marriage on April 11, 1970, in a beautiful ceremony at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne. Their love story blossomed over the years, as they shared countless adventures together, including memorable travels across all 50 states, with a special fondness for the beautiful landscapes out west.
For most of her life she was a home-maker. Though she took great pride in the years she worked at IPFW in the Financial Services. She was respected for her diligence and commitment by all of her co-workers. However, it was her dedication to family and community that truly defined her. As a devoted mother, she raised two children, Kimberly (John) Duncan and Travis (Erin) Saalfrank, instilling in them the values of kindness, perseverance, and the wonder of travel and adventure.
Connie was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She cherished the moments spent with her grandsons, Trenton (Miranda) Smith-Hay, Carter Hay, Reilly Hay, Tyler Saalfrank, and Phoenix Duncan, as well as her granddaughter, Emma Saalfrank. She was a proud great-grandmother to Spencer Smith-Hay and Levi Smith-Hay, always excited to witness their growth and accomplishments. Connie’s home on Lake Murray in South Carolina became a cherished gathering place for her family, where laughter and love filled the air as she watched her grandchildren play.
Beyond her family, Connie was passionate about her community. As a Girl Scout leader, church volunteer, and class parent, she inspired numerous young children. There she nurtured their growth and helped them develop valuable life skills such as: swimming, cooking, outdoor skills, travel, and the value of giving back to the community. She was also actively involved in local and national politics, always advocating for the issues that mattered to her community.
Connie is preceded in death by her beloved sister, Judy Kell. Her devoted husband, Ron Saalfrank passed just four months prior and she dearly missed him. Left to carry on their legacy are their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, along with a host of friends and family.
Private memorial services for her and Ron will be held graveside in Fort Wayne some time in the early summer.
Rest in peace dear Mom, with Dad by your side. You will be profoundly missed and forever loved.
