Charles Eugene Strickland (Gene)

Charles Eugene “Gene” Strickland, of Grovetown, passed away on Tuesday, May 27th at Doctors Hospital in Augusta.

Gene was born on April 14, 1950, in Augusta, Georgia, the son of Willie and Mamie Strickland (Douglas). On August 16, 1980, Gene was united in marriage to Judith Williamson.

Surviving are his wife of nearly 45 years, Judy Strickland; 4 children – Sandy (Donnie) Thornton of Gilbert, SC, Jason (Jennifer) Kromka of Evans, Terry (Melissa) Kromka Jr. of Beech Island, SC and Robert F. Williams of Cana, VA; 8 grandchildren – Katelynn (Dennis) Amerson, Jarred DiLorenzo, Ashley Yoder, Brandon Kromka, Brianna (Angelena) Antonellis, Lauryn Kromka, Robert O. Williams and Lisa McKenzie; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers – Ed Strickland and Ronnie Strickland, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Joseph Strickland Sr., and sister-in-law Linda Strickland.

A memorial gathering to celebrate Gene’s life will be held on Saturday, June 14th at 2:00pm at Grove First Baptist Church, 108 W. Robinson Ave., Grovetown.
