Betty Loretta Barlow

Betty Loretta Brown Barlow passed away on June 22, 2022, in Augusta, GA.  A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 565 Wimbish Road, Macon, Georgia 31210, followed by visitation with family.

Betty was born and raised in Vidalia, Georgia. She graduated from Vidalia High school where she was a cheerleader, and she soon moved to Macon and married Morgan T. Barlow, Jr.  She worked at Georgia Kraft for several years, then worked at Sears Roebuck as an audit clerk and then performed human resource functions at the Sears service center until her retirement.

Betty was involved in numerous musical activities.  She loved to dance (square dance and jitterbug) and was active in church choirs, Morning Music Club, and the Macon Civic Chorale (charter member).  She was a strong supporter of the Middle GA Food Bank, Loaves & Fishes, and other local charities.  She was a former member of Tatnall Square, Calvin Covenant, and Northminster Presbyterian churches.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas B. and Annie (McGowan) Brown, husband Morgan T. Barlow, Jr., a sister, and numerous brothers.

Betty is survived by daughters Debra Barlow, Karen Barlow, and Wendy Barlow-Eldredge (Richard), grandchildren Morgan Cramer, Jennifer Elliot (Matthew), and Joanna Appel (Brian), and great grandchildren Gabriel Elliot, Avery Appel, Victoria Appel, and Caleb Appel.

Memorials may be given to Northminster Presbyterian Church, Loaves and Fishes Ministry, or the charity of your choice.  Betty’s family extends our sincere thanks to all who have reached out to us in this difficult time.
