Berneice Kay Melton, 81 of Appling, Ga went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, November 25, 2024. Berneice was born in Randleman, NC to the late Besty Pugh. In addition to her mom, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 41 years, Ralph Glen Melton; brothers Jim Harvel and Floyd Harvel, sisters Margie Harvel, and Clara Perry; nephews: Boyce Major, Greg Major, brother-in-law Otis Warren Melton, JR. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Joyce Polatty (Frank), Joanna Bargeron (Patrick, SR), Lynn Melton Taylor. Sister Ann King (Milton), brother-in-law Lewis Perry Sister-in-law Connie Burnette. Nieces; Beverely Tysinger (Ricky), Barbara Strickland (Steven), June Wilson (Tommy) and Susan Robertson (Jeff). Nephews: Randy Major, David Major (Felica), James Burnette (Kelly) and Brad Pittman (Jackie). She had six grandchildren: Amanda Christal, Katessa Dula (Robert), Ricky Bartlett, Patrick Bargeron, JR, (Ashton McKettrick), Ryan Brown (Timothy). Kimberly Overton (Richard Ellington). She had 12 great grandchildren: Cadence LeBoeuf, Madison Kay Carey, Kylie Renee Carey, Bella Rayne Carey, Maicey Schindler, Waylon Brown, Wylie Brown, Sean Dodds, Ollie Bargeron, Baylee Bargeron, Kaylon Dula and Shane Dula. Berneice worked at Doctors Hospital for 17 ½ years, after leaving the hospital she got her CDL’s drove over the road with her husband until they retired. She was a woman of deep faith, boundless generosity and had a true servant’s heart, yet a stubborn mother, grandmother who would accept you no matter what. Her family and friends will always remember her as a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. Her favorite sayings were “Where’s there’s life, there’s hope”. She always saw the best in everyone. “Two sure things you’re going to do in life are pay taxes and die. So, make sure you have a relationship with God”. Mom always said, “she was too busy catching up on nothing”. She loved playing Rummy, board games, find a word and puzzles. She loved watching Let’s Make a Deal, Price Is Right, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, NCIS and Court TV. A viewing and funeral will be held at Fairhaven Funeral Home on Friday, November 29, 2024, viewing between 10am-12pm, funeral will follow and end with a graveside prayer at Bellevue Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the National Heart Association.
