Angela Ruth (Newsome) Hogan, age 57, passed away on April 6, 2026, on her birthday.
Angela was born on April 6, 1969, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to M.B. Newsome and Patricia Martin Newsome. She was raised in Fort Dodge, where she attended and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1987.
Angela proudly answered the call to serve her country by joining the United States Army in 1988. During her distinguished military career, she served as a Preventive Medicine Specialist, Veterinary Food Inspector, and Health Care Specialist. She was a veteran in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and the Global War on Terrorism, receiving numerous awards, medals, and decorations.
She earned her nursing degree from St. Philips College and continued her work in healthcare, both nationally and internationally, as a Department of Defense medical contractor. Angela served others with compassion throughout her life.
Angela was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother- Lovingly known as Glam-ma, sister, and was also a devoted Auntie. She was the heart and centerpiece of her eight siblings. She loved beaches, traveling, especially abroad, and never met a stranger. Her warmth, humor. and kindness touched everyone she encountered
Angela was preceded in death by her father, M.B. Newsome; her great-niece, Maccalla Adams; 11 uncles; 7 aunts; and 11 cousins.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving mother, Patricia Martin Newsome; her children, Derrique Marche Newsome, Deidra Chanel Hogan, and D'Andre Mareece Hogan; and her grandchildren, Chevya Haley Christopher, Aiyana Ruth Newsome, Christian Jayceon Willis, Nailani Elaine Hogan, and Naliah Eryah Hogan; her siblings, Marx Newsome; Donna Lewis (Mark); Linedwin Newsome; Bonita Williams (James); Kristal Wilson; Valerie Newsome (Patrick); Hasan Newsome; and Mohammad Newsome.
She also leaves behind a multitude of nieces, nephews, three aunts, two uncles, multiple cousins, one great-aunt, and her very special friends Kimberly Alston, Curtis Lawson, and Shanay Willis.
